Kenny Chesney and Kelsea Ballerini are hitting the road together in 2023.
The two East Tennessee natives shared the dates of Chesney’s headlining “I Go Back Tour” on Monday morning (November 21). It’s set to kick off on March 25 with a State College, Pennsylvania show, and spans through the spring, ending with a concert on May 27 in Orange Beach, Alabama. The “I Go Back Tour” follows Chesney’s nationwide “Here And Now” stadium trek this year, which included Old Dominion, Dan + Shay and Carly Pearce in the lineup.
“‘I Go Back’ is a song about holding all those things that shaped you very close and keeping them alive anyway you can,” Chesney shared as he announced the tour. “In 2023, I decided rather than just go repeat what we did on this summer's stadium tour, I wanted to take this band and these songs to a lot of the cities we played on our way up, call it the I Go Back Tour and do just that.”
Ballerini gushed that she “can’t wait for this,” as Chesney announced the tour, and added an all-caps “GO VOLS” as a nod to the pair’s University of Tennessee team and their hometowns on the eastern side of the Volunteer State.
The two award-winning singer-songwriters previously teamed up on Ballerini’s heartfelt ballad, “half of my hometown,” which earned Ballerini her first Country Music Association award last year. Chesney said at the time: “Growing up in East Tennessee, it’s a deeper kind of home. You have to have lived it to really understand. Kelsea knows that, knows how hard it is to leave to chase a dream like music. It’s what made being part of ‘Half of My Hometown’ so special! I know that feeling of everyone having an opinion, hating leaving all that love and needing to go out and find your place in the songs. I’m thrilled for Kelsea to have won Musical Event and Music Video of the Year! She couldn’t deserve it more, and I’m honored to be a part of it.”
