Miranda Lambert is reliving some of the biggest moments and stunning looks from her jaw-dropping Las Vegas residency, which she kicked off over the weekend. The trailblazing singer-songwriter posted glimpses of some of the show’s highlights on her social media channels, reflecting on the “one-of-a-kind” experience: “You need to bring your A game.”
Sparks flew on the Zappos Theater stage, with flames bursting in the background throughout Lambert’s show. The “Gunpowder & Lead” powerhouse artist even twirled as she showcased fiery fringe on her sleeves. Being from Texas, Lambert can’t resist “bigger hair and more sequins… don’t threaten me with a good time!”
During her exclusive iHeartCountry LIVE show at her Nashville bar earlier this year, Lambert spoke with host Amy Brown about the highly-anticipated residency. “I feel like I’ve built a career on being feminine and still keeping a bada** edge, and I think that’s important and I felt like Velvet Rodeo would encompass that,” Lambert said of her residency’s name, inspired by a line in “Actin’ Up.” She added later: “(Velvet Rodeo) felt like my catalog as a whole, and it’s a line in the new song and it just felt very Vegas to me.”
Lambert also said the Zappos Theater, at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, is a venue that feels intimate: ““It felt like a big honky tonk and that’s really my vibe… Fringe and rhinestones belong there, so I feel like I’ll be at home (in Las Vegas).”
Lambert announced her Las Vegas residency earlier this year. The epic series of shows includes performance dates stretching into December, with the residency picking up again in 2023. The final show is April 9.
Fans can catch a re-airing of Lambert's iHeartCountry LIVE show on Sunday (October 2) at 8 p.m. ET via iHeartRadio’s iHeartCountry Radio station.
