Luke Combs shared an apologetic message with fans who attended his concert at Maine Savings Amphitheater over the weekend, explaining that his voice wasn’t “what I think it should be for you guys having to pay for it.”
So, the country music giant refunded everyone and performed for free.
Combs delivered the message onstage, and said, in videos captured by concertgoers: “I have to let you know that I have refunded all of your tickets. As of 7 p.m. today, a few hours ago, I realized that I was not going to be able to sing as good as I normally do. …So, we're going to put on the best free show we could put on, and I want you guys to know how upset I am to have to tell you that tonight, but all I want you to know is that we're going to do the very damn best.”
The reigning iHeartRadio Music Awards Country Artist of the Year also made a special effort to pay back young fans who worked hard to raise money to buy tickets to his show. Combs noticed a fan’s sign, explaining that he raised money by stacking wood so he and his friend could attend the concert on his 12th birthday. Combs opened his own wallet and paid them back $140, per PEOPLE, CNN, FOX and other news outlets.
Combs will be performing at the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Festival this September, and fans can tune in and watch live via an exclusive stream each night on September 23rd and 24th on The CW app and CWTV.com. The CW Network will also broadcast a two-night television special this October. Additionally, the festival will be broadcast live for fans via iHeartRadio stations throughout the country across more than 150 markets, and on the iHeartRadio app. Find available tickets.
