Mickey Guyton is just a few days away from releasing her next single, serving as a romantic tribute to loved ones. Guyton shared a video on her social media channels on Tuesday (August 23), announcing that she’s “been working on so much new music, and I’ll be dropping a brand new song called ‘Somethin’ Bout You’ on Friday, August 26.”
“I wrote this song with Tyler Hubbard and David Garcia, and it’s about being in love and being enamored with everything about your partner,” Guyton continued. “And I just love love, so I hope that when you listen to it, it reminds you of that special someone.”
Guyton’s announcement comes shortly after she teased that she has something in the works. She shared a stunning photo jotting something down in a notebook, captioning it: “There’s somethin’ bout that feeling you get working on new music…”
Guyton released her debut LP, Remember Her Name, nearly a year ago, on September 24, 2021. The powerhouse singer-songwriter debuted several fan-favorite anthems on the 16-track project, including the title track, “All American,” “Love My Hair,” “Black Like Me” and others. Guyton said in a statement last year that the project “is a culmination of the last ten years of my life in Nashville. This album is the closing of a chapter.” She also said that she “set out to create music that would make people feel self-empowered, loved, and comfortable with being themselves and this album holds true to all of that. I hope everyone who listens finds something that connects and speaks to them.”
