Luke Combs reflected on the heartfelt moment he introduced a fan to a crowd of more than 63,000 and serenaded her with her favorite song, “Better Together.”

Addi, 17, crossed a major item off her bucket list when she got to meet Combs at a music festival amid her battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The cancer is one that affects the blood and bone marrow, according to the National Cancer Institute. Combs prompted the crowd to sing along to the 2019 hit from his What You See Is What You Get album. Thousands of audience members illuminated the stadium with cell phone flashlights throughout the emotional performance.

“I heard about her story and knew I had to get her out to a show,” Combs reflected when he shared a clip of the performance on his social media channels. “I was honored to have her join me on stage in Columbus, OH this past Saturday and let her see what it feels like to play in front of the best fans in the world. This is a moment and video I’ll always cherish. Thank you for being such an inspiration to us all, Addi.”

Addi’s mom, Staci, reflected on what she called “literally the best night of our lives” in a Facebook post earlier this week. In part, she gushed that she and her daughter were “so blown away” by Combs’ kindness:

“He chatted with Addi and hung on her every word, talked about his beautiful wife, their brand new baby, his friend who had cancer twice once in the third grade and then again last year,” Staci shared of the moment the family met Combs. “How they all shaved their heads to stand with him and Addi talked about how all of her brothers, bf and friend’s did too on the same day she lost her hair. He gave so much love as we listened and cried with their stories they were exchanging. This moment made time stand still. She was genuinely happy and so blown away by his kindness, honestly we all were.

“…Thank you Luke Combs and team for giving our girl the most perfect night.”
