King Calaway teamed up with one of country music’s biggest stars for their newest song. The rising group released “When I Get Home” on Friday (June 10), a track co-written and produced by Zac Brown, frontman of the award-winning group Zac Brown Band. Both bands joined forces when King Calaway made a surprise appearance during Zac Brown Band’s CMA Fest set at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
“You guys, back in January we struck up a friendship with [Zac Brown] and next thing we knew we were working on some new music with him. We always knew this song was a special one and having Zac as our producer just took it to the next level. It’s a song about redemption and forgiveness and last night Zac Brown invited us on stage at Nissan Stadium to debut it at CMA Fest. Words really can’t describe how that felt. We just hope you love this one as much as we do. Zac, we are forever grateful ❤️ WHEN I GET HOME IS OUT NOW, LISTEN TO IT EVERYWHERE THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU,” King Calaway excitedly shared on Instagram.
“When I Get Home” is described as an “intricate song” that’s perfect for King Calaway’s “masterful instruments and crystalized harmonies,” reads a press release announcing the band’s latest track. Bandmate Chris Deaton explains in a statement that the song “is about grace and overcoming challenges to better yourself,” calling the message one that’s relatable to anyone.
“I recognized the talent this young group has and when we started working in the studio so much more unfolded, and I believe in these guys," Brown recently told People. "When Keith Stegall bet on me and helped me make my first album that was the launch of my career. I believe this track can do the same for them, and it’s great to be able to give back. I really love producing people that have the talent and the hustle to make it out there. This is an exceptional group of guys. I’m very proud of what we have written and made. Lots to come from King Calaway.”
