Mary Jane Thomas, longtime wife of country music legend Hank Williams Jr., has died, TMZ reported on Wednesday (March 23). Reports of her age state that Thomas was 58 or 61.
The couple met at one of Williams' concerts in 1985, per PEOPLE. They spent more than three decades together after Thomas and Williams, 72, married in 1990. Though they separated in 2007, Thomas and Williams resolved differences and ultimately remained married.TMZ reports that Thomas appears to have suffered complications from a medical procedure and died on Tuesday (March 22) in Jupiter, Florida. Thomas had a possible blood clot, a family member confirmed to TMZ. The Jupiter Police Department told the entertainment news hub that officers were called to the Jupiter Beach Resort & Spa around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, and transported Thomas to a local hospital. The former Hawaiian Tropic model’s death does not seem to be suspicious at this time, according to reports.
Thomas leaves behind Williams, their son Sam (who has reportedly said that his half sister had him under a conservatorship beginning in August of 2020) and three grandchildren. She and Williams also had a daughter, Katherine Diana, who died in a car wreck in Tennessee in 2020. Katherine's husband, who was critically injured, survived the crash. Williams also has three children from previous marriages. The family told TMZ they'd like privacy at this time.
