Reba McEntire said planning for her wedding is “not [going] very well.” But when it happens, it'll be “a very unusual” celebration.
Mintier, 71, and Happy’s Place co-star Belissa Escobedo, 27, recently caught up with Entertainment Tonight’s Cassie DiLaura as production for the NBC sitcom’s third season gets underway. DiLaura asked McEntire, who is engaged to fellow Happy’s Place actor Rex Linn, “how is wedding planning going?”
“Not very well,” she admitted. “Every time we plan on something, he gets a job, or we get back into the third season and hoping for more, and you can’t plan something that we think is going to be a week or two. You know, it’s not going to be a wedding day. It’s going to have to be three or four days. Absolutely [a full celebration]. …Not only do we have granddads, we have longhorn steers, we have donkeys, we have horses, and dogs. So, it’s going to be a very unusual wedding. On the farm.”
The country star added she’s “not sure how the music is gonna roll,” at this point.
McEntire recently shared another update on wedding planning with E! News: “We're just waiting until we have an open spot to have the wedding. Get it planned. Print those invitations.” Escobedo added at that time that McEntire and Linn, 69, are “two of the busiest people.”
McEntire and Linn first met in the early ‘90s while filming Kenny Rogers’ The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw. The couple reconnected on the set of Young Sheldon in early 2020. Linn asked McEntire to dinner, and they’ve “been together ever since.” They even selected nicknames for one another on their first date (McEntire is “Tater Tot,” and Linn is “Sugar Tot.” They collectively refer to one another as “The Tots,” McEntire previously shared). The couple publicly confirmed their engagement for the first time on the red carpet at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards in September 2025. McEntire told PEOPLE shortly afterward, “he’s very romantic. Very romantic. …We haven’t set a date or anything. We’re just enjoying each other.”
