Reba McEntire and her real-life fiancé, Rex Linn, recently shared their first onscreen kiss on Happy’s Place.

NBC shared a behind-the-scenes clip of the highly-anticipated moment on Instagram on Tuesday (November 11). The romantic moment happened after McEntire, who plays Bobbie on the sitcom, “builds up the courage” to ask Linn’s character, Emmett, on a date; however, “he surprises her with a swift rejection.” Bobbie later discovers why Emmett turned her down, and the pair give their relationship a try. NBC captioned, “sparks fly when these two share a scene.”

Julie Abbott and Kevin Abbott created the series, which also stars Belissa EscobedoPablo CastelblancoTokala Black Elk and Melissa Peterman, who was also part of the Reba cast with McEntire.

McEntire said in an interview with iHeartCountry earlier this year that “it is very important to have heart in there,” in a successful sitcom. “You gotta laugh, but you gotta cry. You’ve got to hit all of those emotions.” She added of her Happy’s Place cast, “we love each other. We respect each other’s opinion on things, their individual lifestyle, their background, their heritage. It’s a fun family.”

McEntire, 70, and Linn, 68, met on the set of Kenny RogersThe Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw in the early 1990s. They reconnected while working on Young Sheldon together in early 2020, went on a dinner date and have remained together ever since. They confirmed their engagement on the red carpet at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards in September, though McEntire revealed in an interview with PEOPLE that they’ve been engaged since Christmas Eve. She told the publication that Linn is “very romantic,” and the proposal was “a total surprise.”
