Now that country legend Dolly Parton is headed for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, her peers in the country music industry are sharing their thoughts — including Lady A. The “What A Song Can Do” trio applauded Parton’s accomplishments. Hillary Scott said of the iconic “9 To 5” singer in a statement shared by the band’s record label:

“She has ventured so far out of what you could say is country music, but never departed from it, and pushed herself in entrepreneurial stuff with Dollywood and all of it. But I just love that she has not wavered. I’m just so enamored by how she’s moved through her career, and the sustain, and yeah, carried herself with such grace and such humor. I think that’s another thing, too, like, she cracks on herself. It’s just awesome.”

Parton previously tried to withdraw her name from consideration for the Rock Hall induction, explaining that she didn’t “feel that I have earned that right,” and didn’t “want cotes to be split (from other nominees) because of me.” The Rock Hall responded, however, stating that Parton would still be considered and noting that, “Rock & Roll has had deep roots in Rhythm & Blues and Country music. It is not defined by any one genre, rather a sound that moves youth culture. Dolly Parton’s music impacted a generation of young fans and influenced countless artists that followed.” The 37th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is set for Saturday, November 5 at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, the Rock Hall previously announced.

After Parton was announced as one of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, she said in a statement: “I am honored and humbled by the fact that I have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Of course I will accept it gracefully. Thanks to everyone that voted for me and to everyone at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I will continue to work hard and try to live up to the honor.”

To many, Parton has lived up to a lot. Charles Kelley added:

“You can’t help but be, too, a little envious of an artist that pretty much everyone agrees is amazing. You know, there’s very few artists like that, where it’s like (yeah, it’s inarguable) every single one agrees that, like hey man, you gotta love Bruce Springsteen, gotta love Willie Nelson, gotta love Dolly. That’s very rare. And I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little envious of that. Everyone thinks she’s cool and that’s hard to do.”
