Keith Urban Collaborates With His Fans For iHeartRadio Music Festival

On Saturday (September 19), the second night of the iHeartRadio Music Festival kicked off with an unforgettable performance from Keith Urban. The show looked pretty different this year due to the ongoing pandemic with one of the biggest differences from years past being the artists taking the stage without an audience to sing to IRL. Unsurprisingly, Urban still managed to bring the house down without his usual crowd.

Urban's set consisted of five songs: "Somewhere In My Car," "Blue Ain't Your Color," "Superman," "The Fighter," and "Wasted Time." Before his set, Urban chatted with Amy Brown about what it's really like to perform virtually and without an audience. Urban said he misses "the audience and the energy of real people" when he's performing virtually. "There's no substitute for it," he explained. "t's what we do as humans. We come together to celebrate, whether it's a sporting event, a movie, a live gig...you need people."

During his performance of "Superman," however, Urban got creative and figured out a way to make his fans apart of the night even though they couldn't be there in person. Since he loves seeing his fans cover his music online, he had some of them give him a helping hand during his set during the Capital One Ultimate Jam. A few lucky fans won the opportunity to virtually jam out with Urban during the song. It was definitely one of the standout moments from the festival.

In case you missed it, or just want to re-live all of the epic performances from this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival, tune in to the two-night highlights special on The CW on September 27 and 28 from 8-10pm ET/PT.
